We have been researching, testing and evaluating energy
saving technology for four years and in the process we
have discovered how to use it to make a home very energy
efficient.
We have also evaluated how to build a home at a lower
cost by using the benefits that can come from combining
new technology with teamwork and communication so that a
community of people can work together to benefit from
better technology at lower prices.
In our family of business partners and associates we
have people who own homes and buildings who have been
willing to use these new products on their facilities
and who are very pleased with the results.
In this report we will share some of the things we have
learned and we will identify how people can work with us
to take advantage of technology that works and get it at
prices that come because of volume discounts.
1. Building The Home
A valuable tool in building a quality low cost home are
factory built panels using OSB and two by sixes. These
are strong and cost effective and convenient to work
with. We are currently talking to a company about a
package they can provide to the home owner / builder
that includes financing for the land and the home and
help with the permits.
They claim that a major benefit in working with them is
the help they provide in cutting out the middle man (
known as the contractor ) so that the owner/builder can
achieve profits in the range of about 50% to build the
home. They have volume incentive programs and by working
as a team, we can make this available to people who want
to work with NES ( New Energy Solutions, LLC. ) once we
have worked out our relationship to them.
It is important to understand that once the frame is up, , the rest of the house will look like a normal house
and there are many plans to choose from and there is an
option to build a custom home.
The benefit with this program will be a low cost home
that is high quality and very attractive.
2. Making The Home Energy Efficient
One of the primary reasons to make a home energy
efficient is that over a long time period there will be
major savings on the cost of energy. Think of this as a
small retirement fund that is building up for future
use. Another important benefit is the home will have a
greater resale value.
Additional benefits include: becoming more self
sufficient, reducing your carbon footprint, and having
fun with new technology. The US government and the
various state governments have a range of tax incentives
that will be the subject of another report.
In the following we will identify some products that can
be used to make a new home or an existing home more
energy efficient:
A. Energy Paint
We have worked with energy paint for two years and based
on the testing, evaluation, and application of the paint
on our own homes and buildings we strongly recommend
these products. There are over fifteen paints and
combinations of paints that we have studied and for the
purpose of this report we will recommend two products.
The first product is a paint that is very high quality
with many benefits that is available at a reasonable
cost. This paint is a combination of a very high quality
paint with an additive that works as a barrier to the
transfer of radiant heat. This product is a spin off of
the paint that was used to protect the space shuttle
which had to endure extreme pressure from the speed it
was traveling at and the changes in temperature from
very cold to very hot.
To understand how this works requires a paradigm shift
in thinking about heat and protection from cold and hot
weather.
We are used to thinking about R values and insulation to
protect us from the weather. But a space blanket used in
emergency kits and the space shuttle coatings, did not
involve stopping the transfer of heat through objects
which is what insulation does.
Instead these products use the principle of reflection
of radiant heat away from the coated surface. The space
shuttle coatings reflected the heat away from the space
craft to keep it from getting too hot and the space
blanket wrapped around a warm body will reflect the heat
back to the body.
The old school of thinking is about using insulation to
slow down heat from moving through an object, but the
reality is that this solves a small percentage of the
problem. The larger problem is the control of the
radiant heat traveling through space that strikes
objects that need protection.
This is why the space shuttle did not get protected with
a giant coat of insulation. We are not saying that
insulation should not be used. It has a place and the
codes require it. We are saying that there are more
things that can be done in a very cost effective manner
by using energy paint.
With the high quality paint, there are many benefits
that include saving energy because the heat is reflected
away from the building in the summer time and reflected
back into the building in the winter time.
The paint comes in many colors and looks good. It also
has a class A fire rating and is water proof and can
breath moisture away from the building to prevent many
problems. It can beautify and restore an old building
and the roof coat has an Energy Star rating and it can
be used for a roof that will last an extremely long time
because it does not degrade from the UV pressure.
There are benefits in reducing the repainting cycles
because it keeps its color and the original can be used
to repaint spots instead of repainting the entire room.
The best case study that we have seen with this type of
paint was a university test that showed a savings of
about 50% on heating and air conditioning costs. In this
test, the building was coated on both the inside and the
outside. We have looked at many other tests that show a
reasonable savings potential in the range of 20% to 40%.
The low cost paint is a copy of the first paint and it
is cheaper and it does save energy but it lacks many of
the other benefits.
B.
EdenPURE Electric Heaters
This is a heater than can provide up to 50% in energy
savings depending on the area and the way it is used. It
can be used for new homes or in older buildings and
there are many users who are very happy with what it has
done for them.
It provides a healthy heat and it is much safer to
operate . Because it uses a small amount of electricity
it can be driven by solar power in a home that has
insulation and energy paint to preserve the heat in the
home.
C. Radiant Barrier
Return in your mind to the space shuttle and the
astronaut floating in space . What did they use to
protect the human body?
It is known today as Radiant Barrier which is made of
very fine quality aluminum and which reflects off about
97% of the radiant heat. By reflecting the heat back to
the body and reflecting the intense heat away from the
body the radiant barrier provided protection with a
small amount of material.
Although there are claims of energy savings ranging up
to 40%, the third party testing indicates that savings
can be in the range of 17% to 23% on energy in a home.
Typically Radiant Barrier will be rolled out over the
insulation in the attic and it will reflect heat up in
the summer and down in the winter. It is important that
the product be perforated with small holes to let the
moisture pass through.
Radiant Barrier is also used as a house wrap to provide
a moisture barrier as well as a heat barrier. There are
combinations of Radiant Barrier with insulation which is
often used as an insulation wrap.
An interesting new product is Radiant Barrier that can
be used for curtains and clothing.
We have tested this product and we recommend it as a
cost effective energy saving product for both new and
old homes. In our research, we have been able to connect
with suppliers who sell to the big box stores and we can
get it in volume at a very good price. We are in a
position where we can pass some savings on to members of
the new energy team.
D. Air Conditioning Additive
It is a little known fact that air conditioners become
less efficient and more costly to operate over time.
Each year there is a build up of oil on the pipes that
reduces the heat transfer.
We have evaluated and tested an additive that takes this
oil build up off and bonds to the pipe with a coating
that greatly improves the heat transfer and the
lubrication.
On the average this additive can improve the efficiency
of air conditioners by about 20%. In extreme cases with
an old system , the improvement can go beyond 40%.
Additional benefits include a reduction of maintenance,
a reduction of noise, and an extension of the life of
the equipment. Another important result is that the
capacity to cool is increased.
The bottom line to all these benefits is more dollars in
your pocket because the dollar savings can be quite
large and the pay back time comes quickly.
There are many applications for this product which
includes air conditioners in the car, the home and in
the office or commercial building. Large refrigeration
systems can also benefit in a major way.
We have arranged for volume pricing with this product
and we can pass on some of these savings to the new
energy team.
E. Light Tubes
A very interesting product that we strongly recommend
are the light tubes that can be placed in homes and
buildings to bring in natural healthy light to improve
the quality of light and to create energy savings.
Another very important benefit is that studies in
schools and high tech offices show a strong improvement
in the work production of workers and students. In your
home you may well have these benefits plus a reduction
of the "winter blues" experienced by many people.
We are currently evaluating two companies that can
provide them to us at volume discounts. In the near term
we expect to chose one or more companies to work with
and we expect that we can bring them to you at a
reasonable cost.
Conclusion
We hope this information has been helpful to you . We
are researching and evaluating many other exciting
products and we will give reports in the future. With
the miracle of mass communication technology, there is
chance for us all to work together. As large numbers of
readers join our team, we will be able to negotiate very
good pricing on these products and bring them to you at
major discounts.
